Are you worried that your child is beginning to show a pattern of dishonest behavior? Do you find yourself wondering why they lie so often? Or why they take things that don’t belong to them when they know its wrong? When your children or teen lies or steals, you probably feel alarmed and respond by linking these behaviors to trust, respect and social consequences. This workshop offers a trauma informed perspective and a different and more effective set of responses that allow children and youth to stay connected while working through these behaviors. The role of shame will be explored, and how to address behaviors in a way that keeps children within their window of tolerance. You will even learn specific language and phrases to use when you speak to children and youth about lying and stealing.
