Registered Social Worker and Counsellor

Harpreet Saini, MSW has joined our team as a Clinical Counselor and brings with her extensive experience in social work and supporting families with a wide range of constellations. She holds a master’s in social work from the University of Toronto and has extensive experience with children and individuals who have experienced trauma and are in crisis. Harpreet has facilitated groups and family centered intervention while offering crisis counselling in moments of stress. Her most recent experience has been with A Child’s Song as an intern where she specialized even further with working with families in a variety of contexts including adoption and permanency support.

Over the past 15 years, Harpreet has been supporting families from an attachment based and culturally sensitive perspective. Her lived experience as a female and POC brings an important level of insight and sensitivity to working with POC and transracial families. Harpreet’s work with children who have had adverse life experiences or trauma has led her to the belief that supporting and strengthening the relationships between children and their primary caregivers is the best way to keep children feeling safe and secure. This Circle of Strength focus inspired her to pursue the role as a Counselor at A Child’s Song.

Harpreet believes in the power of play therapy in allowing children to tell their story and express their feelings and that parent child play therapy is an empowering experience for both the child and the parent. Harpreet has taken additional courses in Play Therapy through the Canadian Association of Play Therapy to support her experience in this area. She has completed level one of EMDR and Lifespan integration, expanding her capacity to be a well-equipped trauma therapist for children and adults.
