My name is Gillian and I am so thrilled to be joining A Child's Song as a student therapist while completing my master's in counselling psychology. Before beginning my counselling training, I spent many years supporting children and families through roles in early childhood education, daycares, volunteering, and teaching both in Canada. These experiences allowed me to witness children's curiosity, resilience, and incredible capacity for growth. They also showed me how deeply children are shaped by the relationships around them and inspired my passion for supporting children and their caregivers.
As a Métis woman, my identity has deepened my appreciation for the role that relationships, family, culture, and community play in healing. I value the stories, strengths, and resilience that each person and family bring into the therapeutic space. I am particularly interested in supporting children and families while continuing to learn how to provide culturally responsive, relationship-centered care. I approach this work with humility, curiosity, and a commitment to ongoing learning.
I am grateful for the opportunity to join the ACS team as a counselling intern and look forward to supporting children, caregivers, and families as they navigate relationships and discover the resilience that already exists within them.
