We are excited to help you prepare for an awesome upcoming school year for you and your child! This IN PERSON workshop experience will provide parents with a trauma informed understanding of the challenges adoptees and children in care encounter in the school system. Our workshop facilitator will share specific strategies and tools for supporting your child to feel safe and calm at school. Effective ways to communicate with teachers and support staff and explain your child’s needs will also be covered. The small group in person format for this workshop is also a great opportunity for discussion and connection with other parents in our ACS community.
This workshop is hosted IN-PERSON on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 10:00am to 3:00pm
Winnipeg, Manitoba - Facilitated by Rebecca Prathipati
Surrey, British Columbia - Facilitated by Meagan VanDiermen
Workshop fees include a virtual binder of printable resources provided at the time of registration. The topics of these resources give you a better understanding of what will be covered in the full day session. You can access these resources immediately following registration so that you can arrive with questions about how to use them most effectively. These pdf’s help reduce the time and energy it takes to communicate effectively with your child’s teacher and support staff about how to meet their needs.
A copy of Andrea Chatwin's Teaching the Hurt Child Manual is included in the workshop cost and will be provided at the In-Person Workshop.
